A joyful, faith-filled community where little hearts are nurtured, young minds are inspired, and God’s love is woven into every day.
The Weekday School of First Presbyterian Church of Belmont is a joyful and vital mission of our church, serving children and families throughout Belmont and the surrounding community. Our central purpose is to provide a strong Christian education in a loving, nurturing environment where every child is valued as a gift from God. We are committed to helping children grow spiritually, intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically, laying a firm foundation for both school success and lifelong faith. Our program is open to all children, regardless of racial, economic, or religious background.
Since opening our doors on August 12, 1985, the Day School has faithfully served generations of families, with our Preschool program added in 1995. Today, we offer full-day classes in a licensed 5-Star facility through the North Carolina Office of Child Day-Care Licensing, reflecting our commitment to excellence in early childhood education. We also provide offer half-day preschool classes, afterschool care and a summer camp program for school age children.
Our thematic, child-centered, and developmentally appropriate curriculum is thoughtfully designed to build self-esteem, spark curiosity, encourage creativity, and instill a lasting love of learning in every child.

OUR PROGRAMS
Our Day School program offers full-day classes for infants, ages 6-weeks-old, through pre-kindergarten.
The Weekday School operates Monday through Friday, from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Our Weekday School program operates 52 weeks per year, with the exception of 10 scheduled holidays or closures due to unforeseen inclement weather.
Children ages two through five participate in chapel, music, and movement, as well as other on-campus activities and visits from special character guests.
DAY SCHOOL
Our Half-Day Preschool Program serves children ages two through pre-kindergarten (5 years old) in a loving, faith-centered environment, building a strong foundation for kindergarten readiness—academically, socially, and emotionally. With nurturing teachers, small class sizes, hands-on learning, and an age-appropriate curriculum, children grow in confidence, kindness, and an understanding of God’s love.
Our three, four, and five-year-old classes enjoy weekly chapel in the sanctuary led by Pastor Sam Warner and Robin Russell, along with special on-campus activities like Music Mondays and Movement Thursdays—all within a supportive church community that partners with families.

PRESCHOOL
Our Afterschool program serves children in kindergarten through fifth grade from 2:30–6:00 pm. We provide afterschool care and transportation from New Hope Elementary, Paige Elementary, and Belmont Central Elementary School, and we also welcome students from other schools who are dropped off during program hours.
Students are grouped primarily by grade level, with some combined classes in the upper grades. Our classroom ratio is 16-18 children to one teacher, depending on age group. Each day, children have time to complete homework, participate in weekly activities such as chapel, movement, music, and daily outdoor play, weather permitting.
The program follows the Gaston County Schools calendar for holiday closures. For currently enrolled families, we also offer all-day care (7:00 am–6:00 pm) on most GCS teacher workdays.
