Children’s Ministry
But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” - Luke 18:16
At FPC Belmont, we love and cherish children, recognizing them as a precious gift from God. As a church family, we are committed to nurturing and supporting them as they grow in faith and in community. Throughout the year, we offer numerous programs and activities designed especially for children and their families, including mid-week gatherings, summer mini-camps, children’s choirs, holiday celebrations, community service projects, and many other meaningful ways for them to learn, serve, and belong.
As a congregation, we promise to partner with parents in the Christian nurture of their children, so that in time each child may come to claim faith in Jesus Christ. We strive to teach and guide our children in a loving, safe environment through developmentally appropriate programs and activities that help them grow in their understanding of God’s love.
For the safety and well-being of every child, all childcare staff and volunteers working with children and youth are required to undergo a background check and complete our Child and Youth Protection Training Program. We take this responsibility seriously as we seek to provide a secure and caring place where children can grow in faith.
CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS - SUNDAY
INFANT & TODDLER CARE (THROUGH AGE 3)
We offer childcare for infants and toddlers during both services (8:30 & 11:00) as well as during Sunday School (9:45). Care is provided by our trained Childcare Staff and is available in Room EB 108 (located in the education wing of our church). If you need assistance locating the room, a deacon or elder will be glad to direct you.
SUNDAY SCHOOL (PRESCHOOL - 5TH GRADE)
Sunday School is a special time where children grow in faith, friendship, and understanding of God’s love. Through Bible stories, activities, and caring teachers, they begin building a strong spiritual foundation that can guide them throughout their lives. We believe the lessons learned and relationships formed in Sunday School often shape a child’s faith journey for years to come
Children are invited to join us for Sunday School from 9:45 - 10:30 am while parents participate in their own Sunday School class. During this special time, children will explore the Bible using puzzles, games, and activities so that they will learn what God says to us in the Bible and how we can live it out.
CHILDREN’S CHURCH (PRESCHOOL - 5TH GRADE)
Families with children are encouraged to bring their child to worship with them. We believe it is important for children to experience traditional worship alongside their families and feel connected to the life of our congregation. During the service, children are invited to join us for a “Children’s Sermon,” led by our Director, Robin Russell, after which they are dismissed to Children’s Church.
Children’s Church provides an opportunity for adolescents to grow in faith through an engaging, age-appropriate message designed to help them better understand God’s Word. Our goal is to give children an experience that helps them discover what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.
“JAM” (AGES 3-5)
Tuesdays, 4:15 - 5:00 pm
We invite preschool children, ages 3-5, to join us for JAM” (Jesus and Me) where children will enjoy music, movement, and a Bible lesson. JAM classes are open to the community and will be held in the Multipurpose Room of FPC Belmont each Tuesday from 4:15-5:00 pm. Participants are asked to enter through the front doors of the church. For questions or more information, please contact Robin Russell.
“WOW” (KINDERGARTEN - 5TH GRADE)
Wednesdays at 5:00 pm
“WOW” also known as “Worship on Wednesday,” is a time set aside for children grades Kindergarten through 5th Grade. We know that children are a gift from God and it is our heart’s desire to see them build a relationship with Him. We want to pour God’s love into each child that we come into contact with, and help them learn and grow in their walk with Christ. “WOW“ consists of music, games, crafts, missions, and other special events, and we hope your child will join us on Wednesdays!
