Our membership is privileged to support the Belmont Community Organization in many ways . . .
The BCO client averages between 18 and 45 years of age. Race is directly proportionate to our service area. The average client ask for service 4 times per year.
To understand the BCO we must first understand the Belmont area. 9.5 of the people and 6.9% of the families in the Belmont area fall below the poverty line. The BCO services 5% of the families within this Belmont area each year.
Services provided July 1, 2004 to June 30, 2005
· Total households given assistance: 2,387 (more than 7,000 individuals)
· Food distributed: 80,737 pounds (2002-2003 was 73,000 pounds)
· Help with utility bills: 314 households
· Clothing provided to 360 households
· 77 clients received ongoing help with prescription medications
· Rent was paid for 54 households
· 83 families’ children had a much merrier Christmas
