Construction Updates

Construction began on our building renovation and new construction project on August 31, 2009.  This site will contain regular updates to keep our members, Weekday School families and visitors informed about changes in parking and building access and other important construction news.  If you have any questions, please call our church office 704-825-3357 or the Weekday School office 704-825-8225.

·         Because of continued rain and snow, we made the decision to remove and replace the wet soil in the former drive thru.  We expect footings to be poured beginning Monday, March 1.

·         Kitchen finishes have been selected and equipment finalized.  It is our goal to have work completed by mid-May.  Some unexpected plumbing work will be required in order to accommodate a new garbage disposal.

·         Some of the new HVAC equipment and auxiliary ductwork to better heat / cool the Sanctuary is now being installed.  This will impact the Sacristy Room and a portion of a storage closet in that area.  Four (4) new air return grilles will be installed at various points in the Sanctuary.  Every attempt will be made to minimize their appearance and blend into the existing brickwork.

The new door at the front of the Sanctuary has been installed.  Trim work around the door’s windows will be completed and the door will be painted.    The gray finish you now see is a primer coat.

·         The new heat pump serving the Chapel has been installed and is operational.

·         Mechanical, electrical and HVAC work continues in the Educational Building corridors, as well as the new Admin / Staff areas.

·         You may have noticed the wooden stakes with blue tape in the drive way area on Central Avenue.  These indicate the outer boundary of the new circular drive.

·         Some minor demolition (removal of a dead tree and storage building) behind the Ford House remain to be performed.

·         Within the next two weeks, we will close the gravel parking lot adjacent to the Ford House in preparation of paving and curbing that area for our new and permanent parking.  This entire area will be off limits for the duration of the work which could take 3 – 5 weeks depending on weather.
