At First Presbyterian, our young people give us so many reasons to be proud of the fine Christian young men and women they are growing to become.  Together they enjoy music, education, fellowship and service projects, led by a group of dedicated youth advisors. Our goal for our Youth at FPC is to grow and know God better, to build each other up and build lasting relationships, to find our strengths and use them to make a positive impact on our world through Jesus Christ.

Our Middle and High School Youth are an integral part of the life of our church and community in so many important ways . .

  In Worship . . .

Each Sunday morning, our Youth lead us in our Unison Prayer for Illumination, and in the morning Psalm.  Our Chapel Choir provides our anthem several times throughout the year, and collect the Nickel-A-Meal Hunger offering during Worship the second Sunday of each month.  For Youth Sunday in the spring, Middle and High School students develop and lead our Sunday morning Worship service.

In Service . . .

As disciples of Jesus Christ, our youth are developing hearts for servanthood through their participation in many service project opportunities throughout the year.  The Cross Retreat and 360 Weekend combine Worship and fellowship with service in local mission organizations.  Summer work camp and mission trips provide the opportunity to serve others outside our immediate community.  Youth volunteers learn to make a difference through their participation in Operation Christmas Child, the 30 Hour Famine, raising money for Christmas presents for our Catawba Heights school children, collecting for the Souper Bowl of Caring, and walking in the annual Crop Walk.  Our youth learn cooperation and serve their church through their assistance in Vacation Bible School, Worship on Wednesdays (WOW) and children's summer Sunday School.  They also serve on committees both at the congregational and Presbytery levels.

  In Fellowship . . .

The building of Christ-centered relationships with others is vital to the spiritual development of our young people.  Opportunities for fellowship build friendship and bonds that will last their entire lives.  In addition to Sunday night youth dinner and fellowship, our youth enjoy activities like ski trips, bowling, rock climbing, rafting and Christian music concerts.  Annually, they have the opportunity to attend the Montreat Youth Conference, as well as the Montreat Music and Worship conference.
